Please ensure you have a valid ticket (and concession card if required) before travelling. On trains, if both the ticket office and the ticket vending machine are closed you may buy a ticket at your destination station. Fines apply to customers who cannot produce a valid ticket or concession pass.

MyMulti

Overview

These multi-modal passes allow you unlimited travel on public and private buses and Sydney Ferries services, as well as in the relevant CityRail zone. To determine which MyMulti ticket to buy, you need to know which CityRail zone you are travelling in. Boundary stations for each zone are detailed below or you can view a MyMulti zone map. MyMulti ticket prices are detailed on our Fares page. You can purchase a MyMulti ticket at newsagents and other retailers displaying MyZone or PrePay signage.

MyMulti

All MyMulti tickets are available for travel in three zones along the rail network: Boundary stations for each fare zone are:

MyMulti1

Bondi Junction, Chatswood, Croydon, Canterbury, Bardwell Park and Rockdale.

MyMulti2

Hornsby, Carlingford, Seven Hills, Liverpool, Holsworthy, Engadine and Caringbah.

MyMulti3

All other CityRail stations - the area bounded by Newcastle, Dungog, Scone, Richmond, Lithgow, Goulburn, Bomaderry (Nowra), Port Kembla and Cronulla stations.

If you plan to enter or exit at Domestic Airport or International Airport, you'll need to buy an additional Gate Pass at the station.

Pre-purchased MyMulti Weekly tickets are valid for travel:

  • first use before 3pm - 7 consecutive days including day of first use.
  • first use after 3pm - 8 consecutive days including day of first use.

Excluding private bus and light rail services, MyMulti Weekly tickets purchased from a ticket office or ticket vending machine are valid for travel:

  • before 3pm - 7 consecutive days including day of issue.
  • after 3pm - 8 consecutive days including day of issue (excluding private bus services).

You must retain your ticket and have it available for inspection until the end of your journey.

MyMulti DayPass

The MyMulti Day Pass provides unlimited travel on CityRail, government and private bus services and Sydney Ferries within the greater Sydney metropolitan region - this includes Sydney, the Central Coast, Illawarra, Newcastle and Blue Mountains, and light rail services.

MyMulti DayPass tickets are available for Adult and Concession customers.

Tickets must be validated by ticket gates, the green ticket machine on buses or manually by the driver.

If you plan to enter or exit at Domestic Airport or International Airport, you'll need to buy an additional Gate Pass at the station.

MyMulti Weekly

All MyMulti tickets provide unlimited travel on CityRail, government and private bus services, light rail services and all Sydney Ferry services.

To choose the right MyMulti weekly for your travel needs, you need only compare it with your train travel requirements. View a map of the MyMulti fare zones.

MyMulti Weekly tickets are available for Adult and Concession customers.

If travelling beyond the fare zone specified on the ticket, but within the CityRail network, the fare for the additional journey is required.

You must retain your ticket and have it available for inspection during all journeys you make.

Tickets must be validated by ticket gates, the green ticket machine on buses or manually by the driver.

If you plan to enter or exit at Domestic Airport or International Airport, you'll need to buy an additional Gate Pass at the station.

MyMulti Monthly

The MyMulti Monthly ticket is available for 28 days of travel including the date of initial purchase.

The MyMulti Monthly (1,2,3) ticket is purchased via CityRail ticket offices or online from the CityRail website.

All MyMulti tickets provide unlimited travel on CityRail, government and private bus services, light rail services and all Sydney Ferry services.

To choose the right MyMulti ticket for your travel needs, you need only compare it with your train travel requirements. View a map of the MyMulti fare zones.

If purchased online from CityRail, the ticket is valid for 28 days from the nominated date.

The MyMulti Monthly ticket is only available for full fare customers.

You must retain your ticket and have it available for inspection during all journeys you make.

If travelling beyond the fare band specified on the ticket within the CityRail network, the fare for the additional journey is required.

Tickets must be validated by ticket gates, the green ticket machine on buses or manually by the driver.

If you plan to enter or exit at Domestic Airport or International Airport, you'll need to buy an additional Gate Pass at the station.

MyMulti Quarterly and Yearly

The MyMulti (1,2,3) Quarterly (90 days) and Yearly (365 days) ticket is purchased only via CityRail ticket office or online from the CityRail website.

Quarterly and Yearly tickets are only available for full fare customers.

You must retain your ticket and have it available for inspection during all journeys you make.

If travelling beyond the fare zone specified on the ticket, but within the CityRail network, the fare for the additional journey is required.

Tickets must be validated by ticket gates, the green ticket machine on buses or manually by the driver.

If you plan to enter or exit at Domestic Airport or International Airport, you'll need to buy an additional Gate Pass at the station.

MyTrain

Overview

There are five distance based fare bands on the CityRail network.

MyTrain ticket prices are detailed on our fares page.

Features

  • Available for a single trip, 7 or 14 days of travel or as a monthly, quarterly or yearly pass
  • Tickets can be purchased from your CityRail ticket office or vending machine

Longer term tickets - MyTrain monthly, quarterly and yearly tickets are available for purchase online from the CityRail website.

MyTrain Single

The MyTrain Single ticket is valid for travel for a single trip only, with travel permitted on the CityRail network on the following five fare bands, with distance calculated according to the shortest possible route of travel between your two nominated stations:

  • 0 - 10km
  • 10 - 20km
  • 20 - 35km
  • 35 - 65km
  • 65km +

MyTrain Single tickets are available for Adult and Concession customers.

You must retain your ticket and have it available for inspection until the end of your journey.

This ticket is valid for travel from the date of purchase up to 4am the following day.

Break of journey is not allowed. Exit at any intermediate station (e.g. prior to your nominated destination) constitutes a completed journey.

MyTrain 7 and 14 Day Tickets

The MyTrain 7 and 14 Day tickets are valid for travel for 7 or 14 days with travel permitted on the CityRail network on the following five fare bands, with distance calculated according to the shortest possible route of travel between your two nominated stations:

  • 0 - 10km
  • 10 - 20km
  • 20 - 35km
  • 35 - 65km
  • 65km +

Both tickets are available for Adult and Concession customers.

You must retain your ticket and have it available for inspection during all journeys that you make.

This ticket is valid for travel as follows:

  • Purchased before 3pm - 7 consecutive days including day of purchase
  • Purchased after 3pm - 8 consecutive days including day of purchase

A break of rail journey is permitted at any station along the shortest route between your two nominated stations.

Where alternate routes of travel are permitted, you may travel to your destination by the alternative approved route.

Break of journey may also be permitted on the alternative approved route under certain qualifying conditions.

MyTrain 28 Day Tickets

The MyTrain 28 Day ticket is valid for travel for 28 days, with travel permitted on the CityRail network on the following five fare bands, with distance calculated according to the shortest possible route of travel between your two nominated stations:

  • 0 - 10km
  • 10 - 20km
  • 20 - 35km
  • 35 - 65km
  • 65km +

This ticket is valid for travel between two points and for any station in between.

MyTrain 28 Day tickets can be purchased via CityRail ticket office or online from the CityRail website. If purchased via CityRail online channel, the ticket is valid for 28 days from the nominated date.

You must retain your ticket and have it available for inspection during all journeys that you make.

The MyTrain 28 Day ticket is valid for travel for 28 days including the date of purchase.

MyTrain 28 Day tickets are available for Adult and Concession customers.

You must retain your ticket and have it available for inspection during all journeys that you make.

MyTrain 90 and 365 Day Tickets

The MyTrain 90 and 365 Day RailPasses are valid for travel for 90 or 365 days with travel permitted on the CityRail network on the following five fare bands, with distance calculated according to the shortest possible route of travel between your two nominated stations:

  • 0 - 10km
  • 10 - 20km
  • 20 - 35km
  • 35 - 65km
  • 65km +

The MyTrain 90 and 365 Day tickets are valid for travel between two points and for any station in between.

The MyTrain 90 and 365 Day tickets can be purchased from a CityRail ticket office or online from the CityRail website. If purchased online the ticket is valid for 90 or 365 days from the nominated date.

The MyTrain 90 and 365 Day tickets are valid for travel for 90 or 365 days including the date of purchase.

These tickets are available for Adult and Concession customers.

You must retain your ticket and have it available for inspection during all journeys that you make.

Breaking Your Journey

Breaking your train journey is not allowed on MyTrain single, return and off-peak tickets.

  • If you get off a train but do not exit the station you have not broken journey
  • If you get off a train and exit a station you have broken your journey
  • Once you exit a station your trip has been completed

Approved Routes of Travel

There may be more than one route through the CityRail network between your origin and destination stations. In general you should choose the shortest route in kilometres, however a MyTrain ticket may give you additional options. For a full list of approved routes of travel consult the Passenger Fares Handbook, or call 131500.

MyBus

Overview

Customers of both private and government buses can use the same tickets to travel - either a MyBus Single or MyBus TravelTen.

The MyBus TravelTen ticket is validated onboard - either by 'dipping' your ticket into the green machine on Sydney Buses or manually by the driver on private buses.

MyBus tickets are available for purchase from retailers displaying the MyZone or PrePay signage. On all buses, you will still have the option of buying a cash ticket onboard (excluding PrePay services).

Features

  • Can be used on government and private buses, for individual bus trips
  • Use it when you need it
  • Accepted on any bus route - including all PrePay bus services
  • Concessions available

MyBus Single

The MyBus Single ticket is valid for travel for one journey only, with travel permitted on government and private bus services only in the following three fare bands:

  • MyBus1: Up to approximately 3 km from where you catch the bus (1-2 sections)
  • MyBus2: Up to approximately 8km from where you catch your bus (3-5 sections)
  • MyBus3: Travel 6 or more sections on government and private bus services (6+ sections)

MyBus Single tickets are available for Adult and Concession customers. Tickets must be validated in the green ticket machine or manually by the driver on private buses.

Break of journey is not allowed. Disembarking a bus constitutes a completed trip. Transferring from one bus to another is considered to be two trips and tickets must be validated accordingly, except where an existing transfer exists.

You must retain your ticket and have it available for inspection until the end of your journey.

MyBus Single tickets are not valid for travel on the Newcastle Buses network.

MyBus TravelTen

The MyBus TravelTen ticket is valid for 10 trips, with travel permitted on government and private bus services only in the following three fare bands:

  • MyBus1: Up to approximately 3 km from where you catch the bus (1-2 sections)
  • MyBus2: Up to approximately 8km from where you catch your bus (3-5 sections)
  • MyBus3: Travel 6 or more sections on government and private bus services (6+ sections)

MyBus TravelTen tickets are available for Adult and Concession customers.

Tickets must be validated in the green ticket machine or manually by the driver on private buses.

You must retain your ticket and have it available for inspection until the end of your tenth journey.

The MyBus TravelTen ticket may be validated more than once for a trip longer than the one specified on the ticket; for instance, a MyBus1 TravelTen ticket may be validated twice to permit travel into fare band 2. 

Break of journey is not allowed. Disembarking a bus constitutes a completed trip. Transferring from one bus to another is considered to be two trips and tickets must be validated accordingly, except where an existing transfer exists.

MyBus TravelTen ticket is not valid for travel on the Newcastle Buses network.

Transfer Tickets

Under MyZone, existing transfer ticketing arrangements with your individual bus company remain.

MyFerry

Overview

Sydney Ferries fares are based on two distance bands - 0-9km and 9km plus.

For a single trip, ferry users will choose a MyFerry1 or MyFerry2 ticket. For irregular users, a MyFerry1 TravelTen or MyFerry2 TravelTen may be appropriate.

Weekly ferry commuters should consider the MyMulti1.

If travelling to or from a wharf other than Manly or Circular Quay, MyFerry tickets will be validated on board.

Features

  • Available for sale at selected retailers displaying MyZone signage
  • Any MyMulti ticket gives unlimited travel on Sydney Ferries

Subject to the Transport Administration Act 1988, its Regulations and Orders.

MyFerry Single

The MyFerry Single ticket is valid for travel for a single journey on the day of purchase with travel permitted on Sydney Ferries services in the following two fare bands:

  • MyFerry1: 0-9km (bounded by Cabarita, Darling Harbour, Mosman Bay, Neutral Bay, Taronga Zoo and Watson's Bay from Circular Quay)
  • MyFerry2: 9km + (bounded by Kissing Point, Meadowbank, Rydalmere, Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park and Manly from Circular Quay)

The MyFerry Single ticket is available for Adult and Concession customers.

This ticket must be validated either electronically through the gates at Circular Quay or Manly, or manually on board the ferry.

You must retain your ticket and have it available for inspection until the end of your journey.

MyFerry Single tickets permit journey breaks for ferry transfers within the same route for un-gated wharves. Transfers between routes constitute two trips.

This ticket is not valid for travel on the Stockton ferry.

MyFerry TravelTen

The MyFerry TravelTen ticket is valid for 10 trips, with travel permitted on Sydney Ferries in the following two fare bands:

  • MyFerry1: 0-9km (bounded by Cabarita, Darling Harbour, Mosman Bay, Neutral Bay, Taronga Zoo and Watson's Bay from Circular Quay)
