NSW or interstate holders of a Seniors Card are
entitled to half fare concessions on the
metropolitan and outer metropolitan public transport network and three
special daily excursion tickets.
NSW Seniors can use their NSW card when travelling interstate to obtain the entitlement available to card holders who are residents of those States and Territories. Some restrictions may apply and card holders are advised to check with the relevant State or Territory transport agency prior to travelling. See the seniors.gov.au website for interstate agency contact details.
Half Fare Concessions
Seniors Card holders are entitled to half fare concessions on government rail, bus and ferry services, private bus services and most private ferries.
Concessions are not available on longer term MyMulti tickets (monthly, quarterly and yearly), special or premium services, charter services, special event services or tourism services. See our fares page for a full list of concession fares.
Concession fares on privately operated services, such as the fast ferries between Manly and Circular Quay, Light Rail and Monorail may differ and if in doubt you should check with the operator.
Excursion Tickets
Seniors Card holders are also entitled to three cheap daily excursion tickets:
- The $2.50 Pensioner Excursion Ticket which gives unlimited travel, all day in the Sydney metropolitan and outer metropolitan areas - Newcastle, the Lower Hunter, the Central Coast, the Blue Mountains, Lithgow and the Illawarra, on government trains, buses and ferries, T-way buses, participating private bus services and Metro Light Rail. Also available on private regulated ferry services but restricted to local residents reliant on the ferry as their point of entry to the metropolitan and outer metropolitan public transport network, and requires prior registration with the local operator;
- The $2.50 Country Pensioner Excursion (CPE) fare on CountryLink services provided outside of the CityRail network. This ticket is only available to NSW, ACT and Victorian Seniors card holders; and
- The $2.50 Regional Excursion Daily (RED) ticket on regulated local bus services or local bus network in rural and regional areas, excluding dedicated school services.
Seniors travelling to Airport Link stations on the Pensioner Excursion Ticket will be required to purchase an additional Gate Pass at the station.
