The NSW Government supports open access to information on transport services. As part of this plan, public transport and live traffic data is available under a Transport for NSW data licence agreements.
The NSW public transport data exchange (TDX) program provides three data exports:
Transport for NSW has launched a new TDX download area. In order to
gain instant access to the data sets, new and current subscribers will
need to subscribe or resubscribe to the TDX program through the TDX download
area.

General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS)
The General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) is used by Google and
is available to TDX subscribers.
The information provided in GTFS is a subset of the information
provided through TransXchange and includes:
- Timetable information
- Train, ferry and bus services, routes and stops
- Route path (route shape file)
Further information on the GTFS format is available from Google developer's
website.

TransXchange
TransXchange is an implementation of the Transmodel open standard for public transport information. Further information is available at www.transxchange.org.uk.
Public transport data for services provided by Cityrail, Sydney Buses, Sydney Ferries and many private operators of public transport services.

In order to gain access to the data sets you will need to subscribe or
re-subscribe to the transport data exchange (TDX)
program.
Please review the
release notes (2012-10-18). Transport for NSW is unable to provide
technical support for the data.
Current subscribers can still access the TransXchange data through the transport data exchange (TDX) program. Please register now to access the new download area.

Live Traffic NSW

This provides data based on Live Traffic NSW.

Organisations interested in using the data made available here should familiarise themselves with the GeoJSON standard.
