The NSW Government supports open access to information on transport
services via multiple channels. As part of this plan, public transport
and live traffic data is available under creative commons licence
agreements. Below outlines the data available and the agreements
required to obtain the data. Separate agreements must be signed
to obtain each set of data.
NSW public transport data exchange (TDX) program
The data listed below is made available in the TransXchange format. TransXchange is an implementation of the Transmodel open standard for public transport information. Further information is available at www.transxchange.org.uk.- Public transport data for services provided by
Cityrail, Sydney Buses, Sydney Ferries and many private operators of
public transport services.

In order to use the public transport data, you will need to enter into a data licence agreement with Transport for NSW. Please review the release notes (2009-09-18). Transport for NSW is unable to provide technical support for the data.
To proceed please complete and sign the licensee details on page 3 of the agreement, then forward it by fax to (02) 8202 3574 or by scanned copy to tdx@transport.nsw.gov.au. Once approved you will be issued with a login to the Transport Data Exchange production website.
The following files are available for development and testing purposes: Sample Transport Data (20mb). These sample release data files made available for development and testing purposes only. They do not contain complete up-to-date information on public transport services and should not be used for production applications or services.

The RTA is unable to provide technical support for the data. Organisations interested in using the data made available here should familiarise themselves with the GeoJSON standard.
In order to use the Live Traffic NSW data, you will need to enter into a data licence agreement with the RTA.

An RTA representative will contact you once your agreement has been approved.
